Tests & results

Blood tests are done in special clinics on various mornings. You do not usually need to fast and please drink plenty of fluids before you come.

Blood tests for children 0-13 years are done in local clinics. Please see list of clinics:

Please make sure you check your test results (blood tests, urine tests, stool tests or x-rays) by calling the surgery number between 12.00 noon and 6.00pm. Most blood tests and X-ray results will be back in about a week. Please note that different test results may arrive at different times.

The receptionist will not be able to give you detailed results but will be able to tell you if the doctor has marked everything as normal. If the doctor needs to discuss the results with you in person, you will be asked to book an appointment to come back.

Please note that we have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Please note that we do NOT get the results of tests organised by a hospital specialist and do not ask for these.
